The project aims to produce bio-sand water filters for slum areas in Egypt that obtain water from unsanitary sources, whether through the poor quality of the government's water network, manual hand pumps, or surface water. The provision of the filters will also come with an educational service to educate the community on the importance of its use as well as how to use and maintain it, in order to ensure long-term sustainable use. Finances will be used to cover the cost of obtaining the raw materials and equipment for the filter and in the long-run potentially include transportation or training costs if they are needed.
